We have received so many wonderful letters from friends around the world that we wanted to share the memories of Mrs. Mabee with everyone.

My wife, my son, and I visited with you in September 2009.  We heard about Mrs. Mabee's recent passing and wanted to offer our condolences to the Mabee Family, you, and the entire Golden Eagle operation.

We will always have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the entire Golden Eagle operation and are glad we were able to visit the farm and see a part of horse racing history.  The entire Mabee family should be very proud of the legacy John and Betty left for all of us horse racing fans around the world.

Best regards,

Luis

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Mrs. Mabee.  Our sincere condolences go to the Mabee family and the employees of Golden Eagle Farm during this difficult time.  California horseracing has lost a true matriarch and longtime supporter of our industry.  In a time where we California breeders are facing such tenuous times, the loss of Mrs. Mabee will be felt that much more.

We sincerely thank the Mabee family for all they have done for California racing (and horse racing in general) over the past many years.

Sincerely,

Gregg and Evette DeLong

I just wanted to express my most heartfelt condolences to the Mabee family and to the Golden Eagle Farm's staff for the passing on Mrs. Mabee.

Years ago, I had the privilege to exchange a few letters with her about Best Pal, a horse so greatly admired.

Mrs. Mabee was a wonderful lady, very kind toward a fan who was based so far away from California and the horse we both so liked. The photo of Best Pal winning the Santa Anita Handicap she sent me still hangs from my bedroom's wall,  a perennial memory of a great, kind lady and a beloved horse that are now together again.

Thank you for the memories, Mrs. Mabee, this fan from Italy will never forget you.

Sincerely,

Ilaria Dotti (Italy)

I was so sorry to hear about Mrs. Mabee this morning and our condolences go out to everyone at the farm.

She was an inspiration to so many thoroughbred fans, owners and breeders both inside and outside of California.

Just like there will never be another Best Pal, there will never be another Betty Mabee.

Best Regards,

Reed Ringler
